After the first poem was a lot of fun to write, I decided to write another one.

This time I chose The Soothsayer’s Recompense.

Two Sides
by Karen Maeby Bates

There she lays sunbathing
in another world, while viewing another.
Her current world, dark. The other world, light.

She dreams, as she thinks.
Time goes on, she hears it
as the train chugs along for the fifth time.

The darkened world has faltered
her everything. Where is the light
that proceeds to shine on her life?

The other world shines
with hope and dreams
time stands still there or so it seems.

Split right down the middle,
right down the middle of her body
is her entire life.

Standing with one foot on both sides,
she continues to hopelessly lie
on the dark side.

Full of depression,
just looking for light.
Will it get better? Time keeps passing on by.
