I decided that I needed to do a little more exercising my thoughts to get exposed and to experiment more outside of what I’m used to, especially after I published my first poetry-photo book. So I’m participating in the dversepoets.com Giorgio de Chirico poetry exercise.

I chose ‘Uncertainty of the Poet‘.

The Geometry Made Her Do It
by Karen Maeby Bates

She sits there, body twisted
losing all senses one by one.
Surrounded by geometry, it haunts her
as she deeply hates the subject.
Her thoughts must be kept inland
but there are no boundaries for the dreams
of which she possesses.

Time is in a rush, she knows
she loses all sense of time
as she tries her best to make her lines rhyme.

She feels like she’s at the ripest of her days, right now.
So she finishes her first book,
all feelings pushed aside, there is a time frame
and she feels accomplished once it’s published.
But, as no one buys her work,
she’s now fears that her time to shine
was up before it even started.

She’s scared
that she’ll never get her message across
before her time is up.

The bananas, she’s going bananas.
She was once ripe like the ripest of fruit
but alas, as time goes by,
she dies along with the ripest one.
Only to be thrown out, buried and much forgotten
because there is always someone better,
to take the place of the once unique soul.
