Here is an entry for dVersePoets.com in regards to the theme today – 9/11 – and remembering.

Knowing DD, Remembering 9/11

If only we had known him,
if only we had known of him.
Maybe he would’ve forewarned us
about the future that was to come
unexpected, the next day.

Donnie Darko.

Peer into his dreams:
he would’ve told us, he would’ve saved us!
He would’ve helped stop the bad guy.
He could have been that USA-branded hero.
Alas, he wasn’t there. He wasn’t alive.

Donnie Darko.

If we had only known him.
The previous day, so unexpecting
of the future day’s tragic events.
The world stood still
that very day of September.

Jaws drop
the world stops
tears flow
flames
buildings crumble
those American dreams
they be crumbling
falling
along with those tears
the heat of the moment
fears
tragic event
causing fears
and
thousands left to die
innocents
what’s the world to think,
do or even say?

September 11th – 2001
we still remember
and we still pray.

I have to post this here because seeing this before looking back at old entries at this time the last few years. I had a movie class in fall of 2005, I believe and here is the first paragraph (that I wrote) of the movie review of Donnie Darko:

I find it really peculiar that Donnie Darko was released in 2001 after the 9/11 tragedy and was taken out of theaters a little while afterwards. Was this movie produced and put out around the time in pure coincidence? Could there be a deeper consideration to when this movie was made that coincides with the worldly events and all the interpretations of each event that happened at the time (ex: thinking the world was ending when the WTC towers fell)? When the movie was no longer played, it makes me wonder if people were hiding from the possible future reality. If one believes in “the plan,“ could it be considered that maybe Donnie Darko was supposed to come out right at the time that it did – to get multiple ideas across to people?  Life is really all about finding the pieces to the puzzle to make it complete to where it makes sense.
