Color + Sound Poetry, Infinite Third Live Performance

at that music
close
your eyes
imagine
an artist’s palette:
all of the colors
being used to paint
the most beautiful picture
- with sound waves.
x
sensory, imaginary, remembrance -
coloring my yesterday’s memories.
i sure remember.
color is scent, too…right?
if so, memory is a vivid color of happy.
memory is a painting with words
perfected, to speak from a poet’s mouth
with all kinds of emotion pouring
out of one’s giant red heart, full of love.

Our friend, Billy Mays III / Infinite Third, playing live!
Today’s poem is brought to you by a story, like almost always.
Dan and I went to see Billy play live (for the first time) in Tarpon Springs’ very own Undergrounds Coffee House.
Before he started playing (or, before we even went inside), we went next door to this awesome looking 1950s-1970s shop. Walking through it was just awesome… you all know how much I LOVE older things, thrift stores and such… this place was just awesome. We walked in the back where they had some jewelry spread out on the table and smelt this smell that was so familiar – it smelled like my grandma’s house, it smelled like when we would first walk in to her house after months of not being there… and opening up my mom’s jewelry box that she left there.
I saw a couple of those old sewing machine desks, some furniture I liked, odds and ends, and found a ship I really loved. There was also this awesome gnome sitting outside the shop.
When it was about time for Billy to play, we went inside. This coffee house (and the characters inside) seemed like… something you’d see in a movie. Actually, that whole town seemed like it. It’s a little town with all of the shops actually… open and alive. The last place I saw that was…. well, I don’t even remember. I compared it to Wilmore KY ~ a town outside of where I used to live.
Sitting inside the coffee house was just cool as well. I can’t explain it. It was a whole lot different than what you see at Starbucks. It was… more homey… more involved… more artsy and everyone seemed to know everyone. Everyone seemed supportive of everyone, everyone seemed to have a story to tell and everyone seemed different from another. Like, you could just tell. Honestly, this place is something I’d expect to see in California. I felt like I read about it in a book or saw photos of those kinds of places.
They had a ton of business cards laying on the counter and I took a few of them, going to “like” those people on Facebook or at least see what they’re about… it’s awesome. I have ALWAYS wanted what I found here in Florida in this area. It’s amazing. I had always wanted one of THOSE coffee house hangouts. I’ve always wanted to find THOSE kinds of shops, thrift stores, bookstores, record stores.. and it’s AWESOME that I live in a state with all of what I like! Not to mention, our Florida family that lives here. It was so good seeing a few of them… :)
Seeing Billy play live is amazing. I have always loved his music from the start. His first album is still my above all favorite. If you know me, my instrumental music is quite picky because I usually like songs with words. When I listen to music without words, it’s usually Mozart /classical music… that way I have the perfect focus and I do believe Mozart makes you smarter. Any little bit for ME, helps. Hahahahah.
But Billy’s music… I love it. It’s just wonderful. I think what makes it most amazing is that he’s local and he’s a friend with a lot of talent… that makes it most special. Above all, Dan and I loved his live performance and we’re thankful we finally got to go!!! and we will certainly be back!
