Mysterious Disappearance, by Karen Maeby Bates ~ 12/13/11

She watches herself from the express train window-
her body chasing the train down the tracks
as it passes her by…

her soul went up to the sky
and disappeared, as did the reflection
of her face in the window.

The written notes in her notebook
disappear with age.
Her name,
she doesn’t know her name any more.
Neither does any one else.

Vicious memories make her scream,
she’s tied up, not able to wipe her eyes.
The ground she’s standing on is sinking
and filling with water.

She tries to scream,
but
her voice is gone.
She’s dying because she can’t speak.

Floor is sinking in,
water is way above her head.

She dies; and no one cares to know.
